New Road to Punta Moral

The Mayor has announced today that the new road to Punta Moral will open by midnight tonight and will remain open until mid September when it will close again for completion.

Went to the beach last night and the road was open not quite the finished article but no detour necessary.

The speed humps are a bit fierce, lets hope they replace them with 50kph humps when the road is complete. Trouble is the road is now quite straight and an open invitation to speeders.

Can't help wondering why they have so much parking along the side of the road. I've never seen many cars parked along there. I wonder what spectacular attraction the mayor is planning - maybe a water park

Is the new road open both directions ? are there footpaths and cycle lanes yet?

The road is temporarily open in both directions for motor vehicles with 20kph limit, no pedestrians, no cycles yet. The road will be closed again after the summer season to complete the works. Looks like it will have a broad cycleway and a seperate pedestrian path.

To be honest, as previously stated the speed bumps are fierce and there are so many of them. No doubt to prevent overtaking as well as speeding. As lots of people are now using that road again we've found the using the wiggly woggly route to Isla Canela is probably just as quick and less problematic for the car suspension. The worst potholes on that road have been filled in and part of it has also been retarmaced.
