They've not been announced yet, but will be in the next week or two

The minister of economy has promised that they will be "extremely agressive"

One of the main reforms will be to make it cheaper to get rid of staff, as they will reduce the number of days per year that have to be compensated.

That should encourage employers to take a chance and give worker longer contracts, which will reduce the 4 hours a week mickey mouse ones.

It wont do SFA , the only way to help business`s to expand/ survive is to make SS payments realistic,ie a 75% reduction, and abolish IVA registration for turnovers under 100k ,in addition a simplified tax system where as small operators would not need to pay exorbitant fees to accountants and gestors , the lost revenue could be collected via fuel tax , something no one can avoid.

Here here!
I run a small business and was specifically advised against employing even my other half - Accountant said it would be easier and cheaper to divorce him than unemploy him, should I ever wish to do either!

I know a lot of small business who do employ thier other half, if they need someone to work and the other half is up to the job, why not?

The SS will go towards their pension rights when the time comes.

Because the starting SS cost of 400 euros it costs to employ someone is extortionate and would be better invested into real estate , most Spanish small business`s Ive come across employ the other half on the black.

Our acct said both of us being autonomos was best, makes sense in the light of the SS costs, and more flexible in case he ever does work someplace else - filling in with me was only supposed to be temporary (3 years ago, har har)

btw, these labour laws were actually announced later on Friday

They were hardly revolutionary

Workers will only be entitled to 33 days per year worked redundancy pay, rather than 45 days.

And you can get a few thousand euros back for hiring somone who is unemployed

This will have very little impact on reducing unemployment (close to zero) but is still bound to cause a general strike sometime in the coming moths

There are some details on the following connections

http://elpais.com/elpais/2012/02/12/...07_740126.html

http://elpais.com/elpais/2012/02/10/...68_485134.html

But this is surely just tinkering, it will not pull the economy up by its boot straps, there has to be more to come.............
