Just one example. Note the use of the phrase "symptomatic covid-19"

And in the UK too. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-57525891
- 34 (47%) were unvaccinated
- 10 (14%) were more than 21 days after their first dose of vaccine
- 26 (36%) were more than 14 days after their second dose'

In fact, most vaccines don't fully protect against infection, even if they can block symptoms from appearing. As a result, vaccinated people can unknowingly carry and spread pathogens. Occasionally, they can even start epidemics.

The forum discussion has covered delta deaths after vaccination - but a web search show many articles from respected sources.
Sadly there is also a 'lambda variant' in 30 countries..

What a nightmare.

Re: New EU travel proposals
This morning I printed out our 'EU digital COVID certificates'. 'Free movement' + travel in the EU was the goal from July 1 (with individual country oversight). The latest restrictions announced, eg, Portugal for Germany.... means that even before it started we are having problems. As a major EU power Germany will have followers. E.g there is a quarantine requirement for the UK and Portugal, I wont be surprised if other countries follow suit. . Belgium have done just that in the last couple of days, also putting the UK on the equivalent of the red list. No non essential travel allowed. We are officially residents so a 'special case' so can enter. But need to keep an eagle eye on any significant changes in France too as we are crossing that, and also 'get out of dodge' if Spain or France shut borders down. These kinds of problems have happened a couple of times already - its not new. I'm not blaming any country here, each country has to put the health of the citizens first.
We drove down for the first time in 14 years to have the car, in case of a problem. This way we could arrive and leave whenever we want - and if there is a problem - we just jump in the car and get back. As non Spanish residents we don't want to be locked down here - as we were last year - borders closed + airline grounded. Less than a week of our arrival we see restrictions increasing and I am expecting that we will have to quarantine on return to Belgium, even with the CV certificate. We absolutely love it here, couldn't wait to come back - and were driving down within a few days of the borders opening for us. But we want to be near family, our doctors etc in case of another lockdown or any other problems.
Lots of social stuff organised as usual, so we will try and have a good laugh before leaving - whenever that is!

.......... but the slippery Haddock has not resigned as MP.
After profiteering from Covid he is certainly not "poor".
Matt Hancock resigned as Health Secretary on June 26, 2021, he remains as the MP for West Suffolk. Still got his nose in the trough.
The Queen referred to Health Secretary Matt Hancock as "poor man" at a meeting with Boris Johnson.

Re: New EU travel proposals
With regard to travel, with Portugal announcing the latest additional rule effective from Monday [I think its today, not next Monday] that anyone travelling to Portugal from UK, who have not had both vaccine jabs, must quarantine for 14 days, how does this effect most of us in Ayamonte, who transit into Faro and then into Spain? Already the 'Passenger Locator Forms' dont work, and no-one in the relevant department in Portugal has any answers to that problem, so I do wonder now what are the rules for anyone flying into Faro and going directly to the Spanish border?

The Tory party could expell him.
The people can choose to vote for someone else at the next election.
Democracy? It is interesting that MI5 are investigating this "security breach".

Border at International Bridge on A22/A49 remains open we believe. Due to fly Squeezyjet Brizzle to Faro this Saturday. Test results and double-jabbed certificates at the ready.
First visit since returning to UK on 6th November last year.

Re: New EU travel proposals
Just completed our Portuguese Passenger Locator Cards (PLC) using Spanish address OK. Put 'Espanha' in the address field and put your ES zip code in PT format, so 21400 becomes 0021-400. It works fine.

You have your 2 x vaccine certificates, but Im wondering on the situation for anyone who hasnt had their jab or jabs, will they be allowed to transit Portugal to drive directly to Spain with this new 'no 2 x jabs = 14 day quarantine' rule that came in yesterday?
