New app from Trafico
 

DGT have a new app available called Mi DGTwhich will show your driving licence, car details (ficha and permiso) etc. Effectivley it is a digital driving licence. You will need a digital certificate or preferably a Cl@ve PIN to set it up.

It is available for iOS and Android.

Not that new surely - I've had it installed for nearly a year now. = could never get it to work Has it perhaps been updated?

I have a digital certificate on my PC - how do I get a copy on my phone?

Yes it's been around for a while and worked fine on my Samsung Android phone until a recent update killed it!

Haven't been able to get it to work since.

You use the certificate backup/export option on your browser (depends on the browser), input a passphrase, and it'll create a certificate file. Then you get it on to your phone by copying it to an SD card or using Bluetooth or AirDroid or something. Then you can install the certificate on the phone following the instructions here.

Cl@ve PIN is easier I guess, but anything which uses SMS could leave you open to SIM swapping.

The old DGT app was really good and provided up to date traffic information.

I've just got a new phone and see that the old app is no longer available. I've tried to register on the new one, using Cl@ve PIN but it keeps telling me to try again later.

Does anyone know of a reliable app that gives up to date traffic information?

I’m not sure we are talking about the same thing. The Mi DGT app has nothing to do with traffic information.

It’s not new new, it’s been around since, I think March 2020, but no one on this forum has mentioned it so far.

According to the page, miDGT does provid traffic information as well as it's many other functions

The old simpler app was just called DGT and only provided traffic information and routes and registration wasn't needed. It has now disappeared from Play Store.

My problem is trying to register with the new one.

That's odd. This from Google Play Store. Don't they like Samsung? My devices are Galaxy S9, Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Tab S2.

I think I know what the problem is. I ran the web link from the S20 and it brought up the app but with a note "Not available in your country". I have never updated my Google Account from UK to ES so I guess Play Store can see that.

You could try SocialDrive. You select the area you are interested in and it shows police checks, mobile radar and Pegasus and major traffic holdups. The information is from other users who post the information and show the location on a map.

You could try the traffic view in Here Maps, you can see it on both the website and the app.

I use the app for traffic called "Waze", in fact it is from Google and it is free for iphone and android. I hope it's helpful...

Thanks for the suggestions. All interesting, but for traffic information I think they lack the authority of DGT. For my next trip I'll try them out.
