new apartment with sky

Hi Guys
I am moving to Madrid and have sorted myself out an apartment in a relatively new build. The advert said the block of apartments had a satelite connection. So i guess all the apartments share a satelite that is on the roof somewhere.

My question is...
Will this satelite connection work with Sky? OR will it be pointing in the wrong direction?

No .... the dish would need to point to 28deg East for uk Sky but Spanish tv is on either 19deg East or 30deg West.

On another note, although further north (and thus closer to UK) than down here on the coast, a lot of people have problems with Sky in Madrid as certain channels are tough to recieve

more than likely it will be on 19e or 30w, the main satellites for spanish tv.
Dont forget that Digital+ (the spanish satellite subscription service) channels are very similar to Sky's satellite subscription channels, they tend to show the same programmes, and with the alternate (original) language also. both have their own versions of Sky one, Sky Movies, Nat GEo, Discovery, SPorts etc, and the prices are similar also. You will only have to get another (BIG) dish for the main UK terrestrial services (BBCs and ITVs etc)
