The facts are and you cannot turn a blind eye to them that smoking is carcogenic. I know alcohol does you no good but the fact is this thread is about smoking not alcohol.

In the Costa Blanca bars I went to all people smoked outside including spanish residents of the village.
I was suprised, no moaning or groaning just did it.
nice for me though a non smoker.

No I dont, I've said that several times already! Its the freedom of choice mainly that bothers me and the questionable evidence, which can be read however you wish to read it - non smokers jump excitedly on it saying "yay, theres your proof" and smokers read it in a totally different way!
The bottom line is that there is no caste iron evidence. Now, if you were to look at the evidence of what happens when someone drinks a bottle of bleach........... there would be little room for argument!

I’ve seen some funny sights since the ban came into force. The Brit bars seem to have accepted it, but the Spanish ones are not going down without a fight.
It’s keeping the builders busy, I walked past two bars today and they’re like building sites, walls are being knocked down and plastic awnings ripped off and flapping about in the wind.
We were hungry and had some tapas where the remedial work had already been done, but the dishes tasted of cement dust.

Because we're all model, law abiding citizens,
...whereas the Spanish expected to be able to abuse the new law, until they got a nasty shock and found out that it was actually going to be enforced.
...and ain't that the truth ?

Bil Cancer Research UK disagrees take it up with them.
Alcohol is one of the most well established causes of cancer
Alcohol increases the risk of mouth and oesophageal (foodpipe) cancers
Alcohol increases the risk of liver cancer
Alcohol increases the risk of breast cancer
Smoking and drinking together increases risk even more

Drinking a moderate amount of alcohol has no negative effects, if fact some studies show it has a positive effect.
Similar to eating red meat. Moderate consumption causes no harm and is probably quite good for you. Too much and you are risking the chance of cancer and heart disease.

Thanks to years of research, the links between smoking and cancer are now very clear. Smoking is the single biggest cause of cancer in the world, and accounts for one in four UK cancer deaths.
In the UK, smoking kills five times more people than road accidents, overdoses, murder, suicide and HIV all put together.

Note that bil put a winky smiley at the end of his post. It was probably aimed at jojo who should note that Cancer Research UK say this about smoking
