Have an aircon unit just over a year old and has gone bang, the Manufacturer has told my supplier that the main board has gone and could have only been a power surge which wont be covered under the warranty.

Seems a bit harsh given the Spanish Power supply, Aparently the part is not easy to come by and may have to be sourced from Japan but will take months.

I have seen adverts for Surge Protection fitted to the supply anyone come across this ?
