Anyone any info on eyesight tests, cost of them and glasses, best places to go, we live near Torrevieja. Also are there any discounts for pensioners.

Most opticians offer free sight test, glasses vary in price. I have just had an eye test, but had that back in UK at "specsavers", it cost about £19, did not get new specs as they would not be ready before I left to come back here. Just opened a "specsaver" in Fuengirola, so went there, could have had free eye test if I bought glasses from them, or if not cost just €15 ! :curse: Have ordorderedd paid for my new glasses which worked out slightly cheaper than they would have been in UK, on special offer I paid for frames only, and I have tinted lenses, frames 135€

There is a specsavers in Javea as well (it's alot closer to you than Fuengirola)....and I believe from what mrsjdr says the prices are the same as it is a franchise and they cannot stray from pricing.

I will have a look to see if there are any shops closer.....Benidorm perhaps.

Martha

P.S. Can't seem to find any other than Javea. Maybe you can phone tomorrow and ask. They are closed today.

however I have found that the spanish opticians in Javea are generally better value, just as good an eye test (free), and most speak English

Certainly the frames in the windows at Spanish opticians here are really cheap, although I haven't been in for a test or new lenses yet

Hey Bb,

I noticed you're having a little moan about age....so I thought I'd post a link to cheer you up ;)

Wait a few minutes for it to load and if it doesn't then press the "Play Video From Alternate Source" #2 or #3

There is going to be s Specsavers in Torevieja. The Shop will be near the Habeneras centre.

I think they should be open at the end of May. I desperatly need new glasses & an eye test.

Look in local freebies newspapers for opening dates.

Re: needing new glasses

Judging by the timespan, no 1 hour deal, more like 2 weeks, i think they have to send them to the UK to be made. Maybe this will change when more shops open.

Re: needing new glasses

I went to specsavers in Javea with a prescription and got both pairs of glasses (one for reading and one for driving) within 2 hours......and the price was almost half of what I had paid in Calpe for one pair the previous year.

I had a look at the links BigBhudda provided and I think next time the dog eats my frames I may try ordering online......they look like good deals! Thanks Bb ;)
