Need a plasterer?
 
Hey does anybody know contact numbers for english Builders who are looking for plasterers. My boyfriend is moving to spain (Murcia area) with me in a few months and has 8yrs experience plastering and odd jobs.
Hope someone can help. thanx :)

He may have a huge problem with the plaster that is used here as it is very different from English plaster. Does he have fluent Spanish because from what I can gather it is difficult to make a living if you totally depend on ex-pat builders or ex-pats.

Hi Rosemary, Yes we know about the difference in plastering, hoping to pick it up as he goes along, he cant speak spanish yet but going to learn the basics before we go.
Just need contacts for advice, we will carry on the search. thanx

You don't plaster so much with plaster here internally, its cement ..... or rather a mixture of Arena de Chinchilla (sand) and cement.

there are specialists for this, Yeseros (I think thats how you spell it)

Smooth plasterers are known as perliteros. They use perlite for a smooth finish.

We have a bedroom ceiling and the walls of a double stairwell to do. Never touched plaster before so wonder what ours will end up loooking like if the professionals do not always make a good job using the stuff available.

I was worried before but now I am REALLY worried.

Try a bit out on the walls first and see how you get on.
If I was you though I would get a quote from Spanish perliteros.
I am quite handy with UK plaster but I dont think I would attempt a whole ceiling with perlite.
