Multiple identities-have you tried it on BE or other forums?
Just a question about multiplr identities, have you ever tried to do it and been caught? :o
Have you done it and not been caught?:D Would yo ever bother to try? ;) Or like me, is 1 virtual persona enough? What do you think about the people that try to fool the mods? I personally think it is a waste of time, better to be a whole than 2 halves. |
Re: Multiple identities-have you tried it on BE or other forums?
I'm figuring you mean more than one of yourself within one forum? Cos I exist in other places, sometimes in this persona sometimes tweaked a bit!
I think creating me myself and I all in the one place is far too convoluted. Besides my mum used to warn be about the tangled web we weave etcetera etcetera. You? Or should that be y'all? Mind you you've got enough names to play with:lol: |

Re: Multiple identities-have you tried it on BE or other forums?
We're in Cyber space, the future. Things get distorted, expat Spain is full of SAS members walking about on zimmer frames, labourers pretending to be plumbers, estate agents who used to sell insurance.
Former bank managers walk around in silly shorts and get pissed every day, their wives are so wrinkled they should be banned from the streets. Fat people abound, they waddle around and eat beef burgers and chips four times a week. No wonder they try and re-invent themselves on an internet forum. The truth hurts. |
Re: Multiple identities-have you tried it on BE or other forums?
Bad enough that they reinvent themselves but 2,3+times:lol:
Have had my suspicions about a few new posters, there is a certain pattern. however, the Mods assured me when I mentioned it before that this cannot happen. |

Honesty is the best policy.
Be sure your sins will find you out ! :o |
Re: Multiple identities-have you tried it on BE or other forums?
I know a couple of people who have done so and found it very difficult to maintain a different posting style and not go back to their original "character". Its also quite tricky to maintain the smoke screen required to fool the powers that be.
As for me, the way I see it is why bother? If you need to invent alias' to try and create friction (lets face it, thats all you are doing it for) then why? |

Re: Multiple identities-have you tried it on BE or other forums?
I'm me ... what you see is what you get, I can't be bothered to attempt another identity WHY should I  The people I chat to on here are people I get along with and have a laugh with and they all seem to be the same person every time, if they had different identies they wouldn't be able to keep up the pretence ... would they  :sneaky: :p

Re: Multiple identities-have you tried it on BE or other forums?
The posts I am the most suspicious of are the "Moving to Spain can I get my invalidityetc. benefit, have three kids/pregnant" type of stories. There are just too many and are probably wind-ups by someone already on the forum as they always attract lively debate.

rarely get involved in those posts now, too much like hard work trying not to be downright rude, especially as they managed to google BE but failed to find direct.gov.uk for information about benefits. |
Re: Multiple identities-have you tried it on BE or other forums?
You can usually spot the 'imposters' by their repetitive way of writing, their intent is to mock the forum, or for some other perverse reason.
I've noticed three or four, at least, whose vanity makes them attach some obscure video clip or something similar to their posts, forgetting that they have used it under a previous identity. These daft things are so obscure that the chances of two genuine posters using the same one are millions to one. The mods are helpless because a lot of people use proxy servers nowadays to hide their IP address, perfectly legitimately for all sorts of reasons. |
Re: Multiple identities-have you tried it on BE or other forums?
Sounds far too complicated to me and could not be bothered trying it
