There are, as far as I know, few camping sites round there, there is one at Punta Prima, BUT, are you going to be one of those motorcaravanners that park on supermarket carparks and pay nothing for the privilege. because there are a lot of those, and we used to hate it as they paid nothing for the privilege. but I think that the supermarkets are trying to clamp down on them.

You should see the British here who can´t seem to understand the parking sign for handicapped parking spaces. Especially at the commercial centre.

I know the Spanish don´t give a rat´s ass as well, but mostly I´ve seen British plated cars parked there. Nice going.

Sorry for off topic reply. Quick rant over.

Hi! Sorry, I did not make myself clear... I am however enjoying all the replies.

I have been living near Cape Town for 9 years after leaving the UK. I am an female with tree small dogs and have rented a place in Torrevieja as a stepping stone. I want the motor home to explore parts of Spain and Europe, as I have to find somewhere to settle.

Well in that case you wont be short of places to go, it's a beautiful place and very varied. We've been visiting by car. A motorhome would be a wonderful idea, and as I said, something we considered. Driving from Valencia to, say, Santiago de Compostella non stop to give you an idea will take about 11-12 hours. Seville from Valencia is around 7 hours, Barcelona from Valencia 4.5 hours. There seem to be a profusion of World Heritage sites everywhere!

Bit as I said, you'll need to take someone with you when you buy a motorhome, if not just to negotiate.

And make sure the dealer sorts out the registration, and you get the receipt for the SUMA (car tax) as well. You really need someone with detailed knowledge so that you can ensure that the car isn't the subject of unpaid fines. Fines go with the vehicle, and if the previous owner hasn't paid his fines, if any, then when you buy the car you get the unpaid fines as well. A gestor would be best, he will act as interpretor as well. There are quite a few in the area.
