The EU does provide its citizens with great advantages. These advantages will be gone. It won't be the same after Brexit. It will still be possible to move to Spain of course but very likely only if you have the money.

What requirements did she find tough? Many from outside EU manage to relocate to Spain every year. It's not nearly as tough as trying to retire to USA. :-)

A rather rash comment there. Brits emigrate to countries all over the world and not just EU member states so think on what you said and how rather silly you've made yourself look. As the saying goes "Engage brain before speaking"
