Moving to Spain, advice needed.

Hi Everyone.

We need some advice really..

We've decided to move to Spain in about 5-7 years time (already started Spanish lessons! :) )

Decided that now rather than then would be the best time to buy as prices seem to be going up at a furious pace just in the past 3 months I have been checking the net for properties.

So my questions are as follows:

a> any www sites for spanish real estate would be excellant

b> how easy is it to rent the property out there as obviously it would be standing empty for a large portion of the year until we have everything in place to move. We would be more than happy if the renting the property out would cover most (if not all) the mortgage.. not really looking for a monthly income from it.. just help with the mortgage. Any websites that gives any hints/info would be very much appreciated.

c> is anyone out there doing the same (renting their property out) if so do people generaly take good care of it?

d> what are the general rules about mortgages? same as the UK (ie 3.5 x your annual salery for a couple) and how much is the base rates normaly? would it be better to get a mortgage from the UK or?

ANY help or advice what so ever would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Bravo on your decision! Brian at http://www.eurobrokers-spain.com/ just assisted my parents (over the past 1.5 year) in finding and buying a home in Spain. The company also does property management. Suggest you contact them directly with your questions.

Hello
Suggest you join FIPE ( Fundacion Instituto de Propietarios Extranjeros ) or at least look at their web site www.fipe.org/
They will be able to supply much information regarding property purchase and have a magazine for members
From personal experience make sure you use an abogado to look at any contract before you sign ( do not just use the estate agent )
