Living in Newcastle at the minute but moving to Murcia Spain as soon as possible
Already bought out there just waiting to get back after this mad world has sorted itself out
Any advice would be welcomed

Hi, welcome to BE.

I've moved your thread to the Spain forum, where you'll no doubt get good advice. I guess the obvious thing post-Brexit is do you already have residency or will you need to sort out a visa route?

Good luck with the move.

Thanks for that

I haven't sorted the visa yet as was supposed to do this last year
Been contacting my solicitor in Spain and will catch up with her about it when I manage to get back out

Well if you are aware of the Visa and driving licence ( test) not sure what type of advice you are looking for?

Will you need to work there?

Not sure if you understand the Visa process completely by what you have written here.

The tax situation is my biggest concern as struggling to get any answers
I get my pension lump sum next year and from what I have read the Spanish can tax that

Hi
I am in the hands of my solicitor as far as this is concerned
I was hoping to get back last year to sort it before the end of the year but thanks to Covid that didn't happen

Yes ! If it is big enough get good advice it is not necessarily taxed as income depending on years of contribution etc etc . As a fiscal resident the Spanish authorities will want a full decalaration of worldwide income and , again, depending on how much you may have, on an annual basis your worldwide wealth .

Take your lump sum and move over in the next Spanish tax year (Jan to Dec)
Its what I did, got mine 30th Dec 2019 was supposed to have moved May 2020 but ended up in mid August.

The 25% remains tax free because you are not considered tax resident for the year you took the cash. You are Uk tax resident.

The 183 day rule starts on the 1st of Jan (new tax year).
