Other than for commercial premises, window cleaners are not common in spain. You could start a trend:rofl:, but I doubt this is the time to try. Many houses have grills and shutters :unsure:.

Nurses will always find a job, but wife may need additional training/ qualifications and salary is not as high as in UK.

I would have thought 30% would be enough for a deposit in UK. I assume your income meets their lending criteria? Have you tried a good mortgage broker?

As far as I understand it (I've spoken to someone at the bank and various IFAs) you can only get this mortgage if you buy one of their repos. Unfortunately their repos are stupidly overpriced so there's not much point unless you wanted someone to live for free for three years. You'd easily save the money you saved by buying something normally and knocking off a big wedge of money

These deals are around but you’re buying straight into negative equity. But if you’re arriving with just a suitcase and are able to leave in three years time with just a suitcase, a sun tan and no paper trail it might be for you. The deal is not for serious people.

They do it all the time, that’s where our beloved agents come in. They fill out the forms with all sorts of references and a mere unemployed chef can suddenly provide references from the Savoy, where he was in charge. Or from Gordon Ramsay himself – ‘This fxxxxx worked for me and he’s fxxxxx brilliant.’

Ahhh, that would explain it. I've had a look through their portfolio and there's nothing in my home town for me to even evaluate. If they were at rock bottom prices I'd have bought ten, rented them out for three years and then sold them on (gradually)!

Ah well. Back to the day job.

Hi,

I don´t want to discourage you but we got a 20% unemployment rate at the moment. Payment in Spain is pretty bad for nurses (it is even for doctors) and your wife´s qualifications may not be good over here. I got an English degree an it took me almost two years to get it homologated in Spain. Window cleaning is not a very required job either. Most people in Spain leave in flats and they clean their windows themselves.

I think you should try to look for other kind of jobs, perhaps in English teaching. You can get a TELF diploma in about 6 months and that would qualify you to work in teaching (in private academies). Same for your wife.

And another thing...you can find a job as an English teacher more easily in the North than in the South. Too many British people looking for teaching jobs over there...
