Moving to Mallorca with 3 kids, would love some advise!

Hello,

We are moving to Mallorca in early August and we have 3 kids, 5,8,10. I would love some further advise on best areas to live and International schools please.
I have been looking at the central areas for living and also Escola Global and the Academy Schools.

Many thanks

Hi and a warm welcome to the Spanish forum on BE. Myself and Fred James are the moderators for the Spanish forums whilst BEVS moderates Europe. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderator who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are usually friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge about the issues of living in Spain. I hope that you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

With the exception of Rafael Nadal's American International School (Manacor), the rest of the schools are located in and around Palma. The west of Palma, in Calvia is expat central, and therefore features high cost of living, crowding, and higher crime rates.

I'm no expert in the international schools, however, their primary purpose is to teach in an "alternative" language (e.g., German or English - a convenience many are willing to pay for), so you shouldn't expect academic excellence as a central focus.

Nadal's school is a bit different, but it's only been in operation for a year, so the jury's still out. But his stated goal is excellence, so you might give it a look. Cost of living is significantly lower on that end of the island. But it's not isolated. Plenty of resources.

In any case, none of the international schools are cheap.

Good luck with everything...
