Default Moving furniture Uk to Costa Blanca suggestions?

Hello all,

Anyone got any good recommendations for a removal company from Staffordshire Uk to Costa Blanca Spain?

Read a few horror stories, so looking for some advice- not actually sure whether we would be best just buying all the furniture in Spain??

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try putting your job on Anyvan.com or shiply.com these are web sites where transport companys bid on jobs. It works a bit like Ebay and you can see the feedback they have, so any guy with good feedback would be reliable

Do you have nice stuff you particularly like? If not I would suggest you can get all the furniture you want in Costa Blanca.
What is your budget? At the budget end there is Ikea in Murcia. If you have deeper pockets you will find several top end stores selling quality designer e.g. Italian leather in Almoradi, which is known as the city of furniture.

Thanks, I may contact them to get a quote.

Thanks, missile I was under the impression that furniture was really expensive in Spain, so I thought it may be cheaper to ship it over

Some say furniture is more expensive, we did not find it so. For example Ikea Karlsfors leather 3 seat sofa is cheaper in Spain i.e. £595 in the UK and 599 euros in Spain.

You can compare prices for yourself on the Ikea UK / Spain websites

I would certainly not buy furniture to ship to spain.

We used these guys in March to move from Leeds to Malaga. They also have a branch in Alicante. They were very good and even met us at Ikea to transport a couple of spare beds when Spanish border officials held up the wagon for a weekend. Graham was very helpful and flexible as we had a few changes on dates and amounts.

good luck with your move

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

We used this company in 2006, they were recommended by a work colleague of my OH. We stored our things with them for a couple of months and then they brought it over. Due to the narrowness of our street they brought a little van from Alicante and transferred from large lorry into van and shuttled to and fro. All of the workers were friendly and helpful, both in the UK and then in Spain

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Rosemary

If you have the time and the inclination, hire a long wheel base 7.5 tonne lorry and do it yourself. We did that, thoroughly enjoyed being truckers for a week and saved a ton of money. That was 6 years ago and it made financial sense then. I wouldn't know about current costs.

Wow- thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply. It is much appreciated.

Getting really excited about getting over to Spain.

This forum has been such a help. Will no doubt have loads more questions yet. Hopefully I will be able to repay all the help in the future by assisting others
