Default Moving to Fuerteventura

My partner and I are moving out to Fuerteventura in January, we have secured a long term let for 12 months. We would appreciate any advice/tips please.
We don't intend to work while we are there and we are driving there with a few possessions and our dog! Thank you in advance. x

Daft as it sounds a friend dog and two cats, used to drive from Scotland to where we now live in the Canary Islands, took a fortnight or so, Chunnel and a ferry from either Portugal, Cadiz or Huelva, they vary depending on the season.

It used to be possible to get direct to the Canaries from the UK on the Royal Mail ship St Helena on its way to the island of the same name a couple of times each year, but not anymore as now it mainly operates in the South Seas out of Cape Town.

I've done the Canaries-Cadiz route a couple of times on the way to the North of the Uk or Scandinavia.
As best I recall, in the Canaries it used to call at La Palma,Santa Cruz, Las Palmas and Arecife.

I think you may have change your car to Spanish plates, a strict interpretation of the traffic law would suggest so...?

We can use our car for six months before registering as Spanish.
