Default Moving to Costa esuri

Hi guys

I have been looking at a property on the Costa esuri complex and are due to fly out to faro to have a look,I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on the move.
As this will be the first time I have bought abroad I was a bit sceptical!!
Could anyone help me on the following questions!!

1. What is the complex like?is there hundreds of empty property's ans is it like a ghost town??
2. Could I build a swimming pool on the property??there is plenty of room but are there laws/restrictions that will hinder this??
3. The property is unfinished so will require work to be completed?has anyone had a similar situation??
4. Are the golf courses open and how much is it to play/join??
5. Are there community charges and what are they for??
6.are there expats that we could socialise and go for a sangria with from time to time??

Thanks in advance

  1. There are quite a few empty properties but there are also a lot occupied - both full time and holiday homes/rentals. There is a vibrant community of about 60% Spanish and the remainder of various nationalities. There is a resident's association - CERA - which organises social events at the Golf Clubhouse, which are well attended and lively. CE is much busier in the summer months.
  2. If you buy a detached house then you can get permission to build a pool if there is room. Or you can buy a plot and build what you want. Most of the properties are either condominiums or town houses clustered into communities - mainly gated - which have communal pools
  3. There are a number who have bought part finished properties and I'm sure they will be along soon.
  4. The main golf course is open but the east course is currently fallow.
  5. Community charges cover the cost of maintaining the public areas and fabric of the community and administering the horizontal property rules. There are also taxes to be paid to he local Town Hall
  6. There is a quite a large community of expats on CE as can be seen on this web site. We mainly drink cerveza or vino. sangria is for tourists
