Moving to Benidorm

Hi my husband and i are going to move to Benidorm within the next 3-6 months (hopefully)
What bills will be payable monthly ontop of any rent we pay on property?

None.. if water and electric are in with the rent.. Rent should be around 450€ to €500 all in.. a month.. €500 = £420

Plenty worse places in the World to live than Benidorm, including a few I have seen in Gran Canaria.

It's all a matter of personal choice.

Everyone to their own.

Some people dont like big open spaces.

In answer to the OPs question, it depends on whats stated on the contract (which must be in Spanish to be legal) but most longer term rents dont include water, electricity or communications, but do include the IBI (council tax)

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Rosemary

Apart from what has been said, unless you are pensioners you will have to make healthcare provisions, in fact to become a resident you will have to show a certain level of income, and the fact that you do have healthcare provision, an EHIC will just not work as that is only for visitors.

I recall one so called resort with residents packed in like sardines up some nightmare of a steep hillside that even Chris Bonnington would be proud to climb, with a teeny weeny beach down below which looked almost like standing room only.

Been around the whole island near enough and can't say I found much at all that greatly impressed me,...... but as I've already said, each to his and her own, and if you and yours are happy there then that's all that matters. :)

Benidorm isn't just the Brit bar area ... there are some very nice areas. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it :)

Much better are places like Albir and Altea, just a few miles away from Benidorm itself, but seems like a different country.

.........and a few other pleasant places not so far away if you have access to a car.......also that old railway system can get you around quite a few places of interest if it's still running..........I seem to recall it wound it's way right through to Denia to the North with lots of villages where you could stop off.............beats the hell out of the AVE anytime for me ;)...........maybe our resident train spotter can bring us up to the mark on that one ?
