Moving (back) to Spain

I'm British....

About a decade ago I was a legal resident in Spain with NIE, bank account, and residency card.

I would now like to move back to Spain, but I'm unclear what the process is.

Is there a FAQ anywhere that might contain answer to this and point me in the right direction? (A lot of the information I'm seeing appears to be out of date).

Did you officially give up residency when you left? which ever way it should be an easy one for a gestor.

No. Didn't even realise I had to/could. I just left.

Last time I did it it was a terribly straightforward process. Has it got so much more difficult that I need a gestor now?

If you didnt give up your residency it may still be valid .

Although the card has expired the NIE remains "for life" . You will have to go through the usual registering of residency but you will get back the same number.
