Default The mountains in January

We had truly given up hope but now seemingly we have bottomed out a deal to take over a villa down near Javea in January 2015.

When we lived in France we came down through to Bordeaux then to just short of the border with Spain and stayed overnight.

Then the following day to Pamplona then Zaragoza and Valencia and then to Javea.

However the high mountains in January and we will be bringing with us our two dogs. Not sure that route is good in January? The southern route also might have some problems for two years ago we were stopped in our infancy and the rest is history.

Any thoughts please?

Wouldn't have thought there'd be any major problem. Obviously nobody can predict the weather too far ahead, but in general these roads are kept open relatively easily. It's only high mountain passes where there might be problems, but you won't experience those.

Would say the same and I'd recommend to have decent winter tyres or all weather tyres anyway. Think I know which route you mean and didn't have any problems driving in January. Unless it's a severe storm there shouldn't be any issues.

We came over the mountains in January - wife didn't like it with all the snow and ice. The children insisted in coming in my car - 4x4 shogun
