Motorcycle ownership check.
 

Finally getting around to purchasing a bike and circumstances dictate that buying second-hand is the best financial option. Currently considering buying from a dealer but have also seen some interesting options buying from a private vendors.

As any outstanding finance or traffic violations are transferred at the change of ownership and I presume this applies regardless of whether the seller is a dealer or private owner, can anybody advise if there is a central on-line resource where I can check the bike is clear of liabilities.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Buying from a reputable dealer you can be reasonably confident that there is no outstanding fines or finance secured on the vehicle & more importantly it is not stolen.

There are some cracking good biking roads. What bikes are you considering?

Looking at Honda primarily. Have seen a NC750 2016 second-hand that fits the price range, also seen a few Honda 500X also second-hand. Ideally a new 750 would be great although pretty sure finances will not stretch to this as new Kawasaki scoot (J300) for regional running around is on order.

The DGT have a page where (for a small sum) you can check debts, fines etc.

Might be worth looking there - I don't know the exact web address
