Mossies - A Possible Remedy
I don´t know if it really works but it seems to have done for me this summer. M&S Lemon Balm shower gel. All summer I have had in total about three bites. Whether it is coincidence or not or whether they do not like the lemon smell on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At only a couple of quid it is worth a try.

Plant Eucalyptus near the house, that's what they do in the ME.

I can get some lemon shower gel over here as she gets sick of smelling like insect repellant.

Hi Wendy ...this child lives on Vegemite (similar to marmite) sandwiches and toast and they still love her .....she has quite a serious reaction to them if she gets bitten...I'm hoping the european mossies won't affect her as much when we move ......or perhaps some magic ingredient in marmite that isn't in vegemite

Re: Mossies - A Possible Remedy
Right this morning i got woke up at 6.00am with that familar buzzing in my left ear. I lept out of bed, switched the light on to find that the little sod had bit me on the stomach and the OH all over his back.
So war had been declared. I grabbed the electric bat and soon found it hiding on the wall above the bed. Zapped it and then realised that the OHs bites were gettting huge so having ran out of lemon cologne oil I improvised.
Cut a fresh lemon in half and soaked the bites in them and then crossed the bite with my nail. Popped the half of lemon on my bedside cabinet and switched the light off.
Woke up this morning and the OHs bites have went down and I looked like i hadnt been bit at all

I think it was a good job you zapped the little f***** before applying lemon juice. It may well help to treat bites, but lemon juice or, any citric fruit will attract mosquitoes like bees to a honey pot!
Citronella is so called because it smells a bit like citric fruit to us. It is actually a very different thing chemically. It contains insect repelling chemicals. To a mosquito lemon and citronella smell as different as chalk and cheese.
Other plants containing natural repellents that smell a little like lemon are Limon Tomillo (Lemon Thyme - can be found in abundance on the mountains of much of Spain) and Lemon Eucalyptus.
The reason lemon scented soaps often work as a repellent is because they contain similar chemicals to the plants that smell similar to lemon, but aren't in fact citric at all.
Word of warning: never use lemon juice in an attempt to repel mosquitoes - it will actually attract them in numbers.
