Obviously Monday is a poor news day . If you read the article I quote "Chris Burke, of the Spectrum IFA group, who advises largely British expats living in Spain, said he had one client who had taken early retirement to beat the Brexit deadline."

We discussed this on a previous thread and yes some including me are considering getting residency as a safeguard. Problem is it is all shooting in the dark as no one including those negotiating know what outcome will or is likely to be and what expats resident in Spain will or will not lose. David Davies has said that even if EU won't allow the UK to be part of the EHIC scheme UK will fund it, no such clear statement re S1 in particular those not currently making use of it. It has to strike you that being clear on EHIC but not S1 could be down to political self interest, don't take away from the Brexit the free health insurance for holiday use as you upset those that voted your way, the potential expats they probably didn't vote our way anyway so why bother about them. As always we must wait and see.

Thinking about the same , at least ,retired for now early at 57, moving to Spain in 3 years so dust hopefully will settle by then , property too .
