Perhaps you are just trying to rubbish me because I did'nt join the usual game of shooting down a new posters' plans and telling them how it couldnt be done, and it will all end in failure!

Frankly,I'm done with this site, and the sad loser's that use it.There are some people in life that are capable of achieving something, not everyone is a failure!
Maybe if the rest of you showed an interest in learning the language, and intergrating into Spanish culture,or perhaps doing some basic research before coming on here talking crap about wages etc, like the OP or the few like him,you wouldnt be regarded as scum by the indigenous Spanish!
Ever wondered why it takes longer for services to delivered for a Brit than anyone else,or why you have to pay more!

This remark is uncalled for, My family, my husbands, and my friends have NEVER regarded the British as scum, and I find it offensive that you should say that. There are good and bad everywhere, and most Brits are thought well of. Of course the ones who cause trouble while drunk are not liked anywhere, not even in their own country. You are trying to make out that the Spanish are ripping the Brits off, also highly offensive. As for having Spanish parents, they did not teach you the language very well did they? From what I have seen your Spanish is rubbish, just like your nasty comments.

We live with the Spanish and are fully integrated. Pay the same prices as our neighbours and have had outstanding deliver times, for example when buying a fridge from the local electric shop we were asked if we were going straight home because they would deliver it immediately, and they did!!!!

As Brits in a very Spanish area we have found that we are treated very fairly and equally except in the nearby seaside town where we have been overcharged for coca cola by a Brit not a Spaniard.

LOL....I wondered why I had been away from this forum for such a long while, and within a day I understood why.

Three years ago I spoke not a word of Spanish..began with I want, I need and do you have. Now I am getting more confident on every trip, and am no longer daunted at the prospect of socialising with Spanish who do not speak any English. Yes I work at it. In June my Spanish neighbour proudly told me that HE had enrollled for English lessons starting September, a five year course !
I guess we are all different stages of our lives, some happier than others, and this is reflected in our posts and attitudes to people and events.
If one wanted to one could quite easily live in an expat ghetto, getting by without a word of Spanish, but you would miss out on an awful lot. As to being ripped off...there are Spanish who will rip you off and fellow expats as well... it happens everywhere in the world.

I hate it when anyone leaves....much more fulfilling to have Cortez stay and change his opinions than to have him leave.

Has he really gone for good though, or will he be back in with another name. I think we need Jackytoo on the case (is Jackytoo really Columbo) with great detective skills to unmasked the ones who tell porkies.

My 4 year old got invited to a birthday party of a spanish boy in his class, since then this boy's mother has gone out of her way to talk to me and at the school play moved seats so my parents could sit next to us, she seems to go out of her way to be nice, she speaks no English at all and I am very much at the learners stage but we manage to communicate, I have found all spanish people I have come across to be very friendly. I think if you let them know you want to be part of their spanish lifestyle and are trying to learn their language you will find nothing but lovely spanish people.

Damn straight. We get the same thing. A family there has taken us under their wing and are incredibly helpful and kind. I think it reflects the effort we make to fit in, integrate and learn the language. I know they are irritated when they hear people just speaking English and not making the effort linguistically.

On Friday night I love to pop down to my local hop and socialise with the Spanish. The only thing I find on Grab a Granny night is they are all 5-foot tall

This actually was the case way back years ago when there where only a few of us 'Brits' here compaired to now, I used to see people come and go continually. At a rough guess I would say about 5% of those that came here to live actually made it beyond 2 to 4 years even back then. I guess with Sky TV and more ex pat communities/people now the percentage would be a higher for those who make beyond 2 to 4 years.

I don't like your comments, because you want thant the people to think that all the Spaniards we are of a certain way (bitchy, for example). I don't know of where are you, if you are british of spanish and you live in UK (about this last I have my doubts), but it is obvious that your intentions are to offend and are full of prejudices against us

There are a number of expats on various forums that always maintain that the Spanish hate them. Now there must be a reason for them saying this of course. Maybe some haven't fitted in with the locals by behaving badly, who knows.

All I can say is that I have found them all to be helpful kind and friendly so far ... maybe its the way I deal with them

I agree with you Rosemary we have been treated just the same.
In our village we are treated the same as the spainish people on the coast well that is a different mattter.
