Spain cuts its budget deficit by 50% in the first 7 months of this year

A release accompanying the data said the budget had been helped by a jump of 42.2 percent in the VAT take following tax consolidation measures taken earlier this year and an improving economy. |

Admirable, but it still didn't stop Spain dropping to the level of Puerto Rico. It dropped nine places in the world rankings of competitive countries, down to 42, one of the lowest in Europe. It's nice to think there are some "brotes verdes" de recuperación, but I fear it'll get worse before it gets better. And not only for Spain!:frown:

Elmbridge in Surrey is the most resilient area in England, followed by St Albans in Hertfordshire and then Waverley in Surrey, the information suggests. |
