Money Transfer companies.
Hi,
I know this subject has been discussed before but a search of the site took me back to a 2013 thread. So.....?
I've been using Transferwise for 2 years or so but their App seems to fail quite a lot on my tablet recently. I've contacted them and gone through all the motions with not much success, hence lost faith in them.
I'd like to try a different money transfer company and can't decide between Currencyfair, CurrencyDirect or Moneycorp.
I'm open to all comments, suggestions and advice
Steve

I use Currency Fair and can't fault them, efficient good rates and when I have had cause to speak to them on the phone very helpful.

Another vote for CurrencyFair. My only gripe is that they seem to have slowed down of late. Which may be symptomatic of their success if they're having to deal with a lot more customers. Once you could get a transfer done the same day if you started early enough. Now it seems to take two or three days. But given their excellent exchange rates and good customer service, I wouldn't use anyone else.

I have been using Currencies Direct for 5 years, never had a problem, brilliant online system and even managed to move money from Uk>Spain on the same day. They are launching android and apple apps.

Last year they changed their bank account and remind you always to quote the reference number they give you on-screen when you transfer money into their account prior to it being exchanged. As I found to my cost, if you forget then it can take a few days for them to trace your money. This happened to me 2 days pre Brexit and it was only 2 days post Brexit that they exchanged, by which time the rate had fallen!

From my experience the best rates to be had are by dealing directly with the traders by 'phone rather than carrying out the transaction on-line.
Probably doesn't matter for small sums but on a large transfer of funds can make a difference.

I have used lots of companies and have used the telephone bidding often however I do believe that currency fair trumps the lot for rates and speed. I have exchanged and moved money within 24hrs on several occasions using internet transfers in UK to give money to CF then they give the money to my Spanish account by mid day one day later.

Can I ask how people go about regularly transferring money from UK to Spain accounts.
Does everyone else's Spanish accounts charge every time GBP is deposited? Thank you

TransferWise or Currency fair. Do the exchange on the site then there will no charge for a Euro deposit.
