Mobile Phones while driving in Spain ?
Does anyone know the laws on Driving while talking on Mobile phones ?
I mean if one was driving along in say a Golf Diesel Cabriolet or something similar , cruising down by the Marina with your Spice Girls greatest Hits blairing out ! And your mobile phone went , Could you pick it up and answer it ? Or would you be required to stop the vehicle before answering it ? Or is only hands free allowed ? advice please ? |
Re: Mobile Phones while driving in Spain ?
Youshould stop to answer it or use the hands free, which is no good cos no one can hear you anyway.
I got caught once using the phone. I was trying to keep my head down below wind level going slowly when I heard a beep. Was just about to gesticulate when I realised it was the boys in blue!! Cue 120 euros fine!! |
Re: Mobile Phones while driving in Spain ?
ps hands free not strictly legal either but if its a blue tooth one so you can keep hands on wheel, then people ill think you are talking to yourself or singing anyway............

Re: Mobile Phones while driving in Spain ?
I got pulled over my the boys in blue for using my phone, without hand free, I think my dog had walk off with it.....anyway they told me not to do it and I didn't get fined.:D
But I have now a blue tooth ear piece and now can get away talking and singing to myself.....:unsure:funny when I'm in a restaurant and I'm on my todd and I start talking, you can see people looking at me, as my ear piece is hidden under my hair, so I start to pull my hair over my ears so they don't think I'm totally bonkers. Funny though when I'm talking on it and people come over and start talking to me, and asking if they can stroke my dog and I wonder then if they actually do think I was sat there quite happily talking to myself... |
Re: Mobile Phones while driving in Spain ?
I used to have one of those but they hurt mr ear after a while. Then I tried the one that hangs off the phone but same problem.
Now I ignore the thing when in the car and enjoy the drive! I wish I had got away with no fine, but with no seat belt either  I was really lucky they didnot throw away the key! |

I flutter my eyelashes:blink:.:D
I have one that sticks over my ear, half the time I forget it is on there, I've even gone out the house without the phone but with the ear piece and wonder why no one has called.:rofl:

Re: Mobile Phones while driving in Spain ?
Its difficult to decide what to do really. Ive used the eylashes before when no papers in the car, or headlight bulb gone but I reckon with the fone I was onto a loser with it after I swore at them - only cos I thought it was an ignorant Spanish driver!
First time I saw someone wiht a hands free I thought they were nuts - in the middle of the street waving their hands around and shouting...:D |
Re: Mobile Phones while driving in Spain ?
I think in Valencia recently it was said to be one of the two highest revenue earners for the local plod.
The fact that the average driving spaniard can be seen eating lunch, smoking a cigarette, talking to the rear seat passengers whilst juggling a box of oranges has not gone un noticed in Valencia |

Re: Mobile Phones while driving in Spain ?
Well - what colour are your eyes.... No on the spot fines here at all. Your given a fine I had for 120 euros maybe a bit more now and you get a discount if you pay before the end of 30 days or something.

Re: Mobile Phones while driving in Spain ?
But you have to have a licence to drive one now......so they pull you over to check, or check you're not bringing drugs in, as skis are often used to bring in from boats further out.
