Ok it may sound like a daft question, but the shop looks like a mobile phone shop here in the UK:cool:

Funnily enough they look just like mobile phone shops here as well. plenty of them all over..  they even have mobile phones in their windows as well. If you want to find one offering several providers, then go to a supermarket such as Carrefour or Eroski. Otherwise there are Telefonica, Amena (Orange), even such exotic names as Vodaphone..

Re: mobile phones in Spain

I picked up a spanish pay as you go vodafone sim card for 24 euros from a phone shop. It was just a sim pack and has everything needed. It came with 12 euros credit on it. 3G works and i can get online / synchronise my email just as I would have done at home. To top it up i just go into any shop with telephone logos or signs saying recarga tu movil and chuck them 10 euros or 20 euros and give them my number, they top it up and as they're doing it you get a text message confirming it.

I got a thing to send off, a form to fill my details in and i get another 12 euros of credit for free. So in essence if i did that the sim card itself would have been free.

The only thing you do need to ensure is that your mobile is unlocked - ie will accept another operators sim. To find out, throw your mates sim card in who is on a different network in the UK and see if it works. If not you need to get your phone unlocked.

You can get other operators cards too, such as Telefonica. But i went with vodafone because a) i was on vodafone in the UK. and b) it had 3G.

Anyway its all pretty easy and certinately beats roaming. People from the UK can call your mobile for about 15p a minute with a provider such as 1899 and it doesnt cost you to receive the call like it would if you were roaming with a UK sim card.

And the award for longest most drawn out reply goes to!!: :)
