Mobile phones

Does anyone know if I can get a new mobile phone in spain and put my English Sim in it, I'm with Tesco mobile and really need to keep my English number, but my english phone is getting very hot and needs changing. I'm not tech savvy especially with mobiles so sorry for what might seem to some of you as a silly question. Thank you

Providing the phone is 'unlocked' (ie not tied to a network provider) it should not be a problem so just ensure the phone you buy is unlocked.

Or make sure it is dual SIM so you can have both English and Spanish - this would be very beneficial as people with a Spanish mobile will be reluctant to call you over the network (ok whatsapp calls free)

thank you, that's explained a lot. I have a separate spanish phone. But I like to keep my banking on my separate English phone

i have always used a dual sim android phone no issues whatsoever. If i get a call to either English or Spanish sim no issue just answer as normal. To make a call it just asks which sim to use. Dual sim phones dont cost anymore and are excellent .

If it is getting very hot it is doing a lot of work in the background (IMO)
Start with the basics turn it OFF and leave it off for a good few minute's, turn it back on and then see what happens (does it get hot ?)

My condolences, didn't realise you were a samsung/android user though the over-heating issue should have raised an alarm bell.

Anyway, any phone you get will work if it's not bought on the cheap directly from the carrier (like a pre-paid phone deal) as such phones are often network-locked to prevent you from using SIM cards from other operators.

I know you want to keep your phones separate (UK vs Spain) but if you get tired of that then you can use a single phone even if it only has one SIM card slot as you can convert your Tesco SIM to eSIM.

Dual SIM eSim or something like Swytch where you can port your number

Re: Mobile phones

My phone has only one (physical) SIM card slot but I can add several eSIMS. I can also have two numbers active simultaneously, be it SIM+eSIM or two eSIMs.

Heck, I even have an old LG phone (not even 3G it's that old) that has 4 SIM card slots and all numbers can be active at once.
