Mobile phone tarifs

Just trying to work out where to look for a suitable mobile plan (either prepaid or contract) for when we arrive in April. It appears that mobile connectivity in Spain is comparatively rather expensive!

I make very few phone calls and texts - all I really want is a reasonable amount of data for when I'm out and about - say 300mb a month. I'll be BYOing my own phone.

Any recommendations?

It seems likely that we will need to get an ADSL contract as well, so perhaps there's value in getting a "combo" deal? I'm not keen on a contract extending more than 12 months, but I suppose that might be unavoidable for a new ADSL connection.

Thanks.

Yoigo seems to be the best deal on it's own - but I assume the coverage is limited. And I wonder what the HSPA speeds are like in major (congested) cities like Barcelona?

Masmovil
I get 500 mb a month and with calls my bill is about €13 a month
You choose your tariff on line and can swap and change it as and when you want

Masmovil's prices look great - I actually found that a few months but completely forgot about it ;-) They're on Orange's network, which I presume should be OK.

Thanks!

Yes reception has been fine. I wouldnt say it is quite as good as Vodaphone, but no complaints. You can choose your own telephone number on line as well

orange has a really good pay as you go deal for blackberry. the phone costs €139 but the tariff works out to €3,50 a week for unlimited internet access, 50 free SMS and calls at 9cts a minute. i got one for both my daughter and myself and it's never cost me more than €14 a month for hers because she doesn't actually make voice calls!!

i'm beginning to wonder if anyone does any more, lol.

you get a great signal with orange throughout the costa del sol at least.

at all costs keep away from movistar and vodafone and don't be tempted to order online. it never goes according to plan. go to the shop and speak to a human. be prepared for a 'computer says no'...or should i say 'el ordenador dice NO' but sadly it's the only way to go about things without losing the will to live entirely :)

Masmovil use the Orange network also, so there are alternatives
I use them because they were recommended on here by someone who was very pleased with them. You do order on line, and everything goes according to plan. I pay about €13 a month and I do make voice calls.

I also used Vodafone before and had no problems with them, so I guess its all down to individual experiences :)

I use masmovil for internet dongle on my trips to Spain and find them fine easy to use and not too expensive but that is only for internet. for mobile phone which I use very little I use Eroski PAYG and that also works fine can top up on line or at store minimum top up 5 Euros which yo can keep for up to 6 months.
