Middle Aged Guy living in the Canaries..
Hi, I am thinking of moving to one of the busy towns on one of the Islands.
I am mid/late forties, like a beer, eat out a lot, do not smoke, do not gamble, never touch drugs, and never pay for sex... I have nothing apart from my clothes, a laptop/phone etc. I want to live comfortably, rent a one or two bedroom fully furnished place near the ocean, juat so i can fish, walk, have a beer, a meal or take away, just enjoy life. I will not want to need a car. So will want shops and bottle shops and Super markets close by. I am currenly living like this in Australia, but the piub life is terrible and i miss the sport in Europe.... Can i afford to ligve like this on $600 Euro's aweek? I am currently living like this on $900 bucks a week in Oz, but i only go out two nights aweek, well it $10 bucks a pint.... What kind of life would i have on $2630.00 Euro's a month? I am just thinking my money might give me more in Spain, well the Canaries? Any thoghts thanks, there might be a pint in it... ps..single no kids, no pets... |

We have beer and it's cheap.
The problem you'll have isn't the cost of beer, but getting legal residence. Non-EU immigrants are subject to rules, and unless you'd plan to be illegal, you'll need either to be married to an EU citizen, or be offered a job that an EU citizen can't perform. There are precious few jobs, let alone those that an EU citizen can't perform. |

Come over for a 6 month holiday to Playa Del Inglis Gran Canaria and give it a try. Cheap Beer is 1euro a pint and an apartment is 500€ a month all in ..

I am paying $350 bucks aweek here in Oz, fuly furnished, i have to pay $20 bucks a week leccy. To top it off 10 pints of Guiness, $80 bucks, so you can see two nights out excluding taxi, kebab etc plus rent and leccy is costing me nearly $550 aweek. Oz is great, but a tad costly if you like a few jars out. 1 Euro a pint, thats 10 Euro's a night for ten pints, jesus thats cheap, and the rents are so cheap, whats the catch? |
