Menu del dia and/or tapas - Calpe/Moraira/Javea/Denia
 

Any suggestions please for restaurants with reasonably priced lunch time menu del dia in any of these towns or the surrounding areas?

We are interested in good tapas bars/restaurants in the same areas as well.

There are dozens of these in and around each of the towns you mention.

The fun is discovering them for yourselves but we all have had good and bad experiences. I may recommend one and someone else may say it's cr*p!

Menu del Dia prices vary, the cheapest is usually €8.50.

Go down to the port in Calpe. There are a number of restaurants there that specialise in fish

Go up the tree lined street in Denia to the little square at the top. Take the pedestrian walk on the right up to the square by the church. Take 2nd left after the top, and about 100 mtrs down the 2nd pedestrian road on the right is an old nunnery that does a good menu del dia for around €10.

Understood, also one you liked may have changed hands since you lasted visited and could now be rubbish.

I was just looking for ideas as we will probably only be able to spend one full day in all these towns on our next trip over and won't have time to search. I couldn't agree more that looking for good ones is fun but that will have to wait until we move to Spain permanently as our next few visits will be reccys.

Oh yes, we've eaten at the fish restaurants in Calpe port before and they are always on our list. Never eaten in the town area though.

I've "walked" the tree lined street in Denia on google as far as the square at the top so should be able to find the nunnery restaurant. Thanks for that.

Anymore ideas anyone?

Liked El Mirall in Denia. Nice menu selection, drinks are extra...but very nice. And aroudn that area some nice bars / eateries also....a nice pizza place near there also!

if she is still around (havnt been there for a while) the musselhois in calpe is good food - with mussels being really good..

a nice little bar on the coast near Denia, right on the front, great view (if you pick the good day!), good for tapas and I noticed the other day they closed a section of terrace for food...

:):)We drove past some of these on our last visit, they all look worth checking out although I doubt we'll be able to visit them all until we move next year. Thanks for the info.

Moraira : Terra Vina - Stand with your back to the castle and wals down the alleyway leading down the side of the English bar. Do v good Tapas, but the best deal is 6-8pm when they do 3 Tapas for 10 Euros.

Calpe : The restaurants down by the port / fishmarket

Tapas generally not a lunchtime thing in these areas though.

Not Tapas, and not coastal, granted, but if you fancy a drive inland the 'Verd i Vent' at Maserof is quite possibly one of the best rustic restaurants on he Costa Blanca. Take the Sierra Bernia road for about 8kms out of the Centre of Jalon. Only open lunchtimes, need to book at weekends.
