You are expected to take a drink up with you.
The room I had in Milan was so small I don't think there was a flat surface to write postcards letalone hold a kettle and a tray of cups and mixings.
Any one else ??

I don't remember ever having a kettle in a room in any country outside the UK

The melia is on the sea front in alicante and i would think the time from alicante airport to the sea front is about twenty minutes or so.
We've lunched several times at the melia in benidorm and the quality of the restaurant was excellent. Have a great time.
