maternity care in spain

Can any one give me any info on what to expect from the health care system with a pregnancy.
Do you get the same tests and choices as you do in the UK. Can you go private? Can you have an elective section, (for health reasons). Can you get an early scan. Do you get early blood tests, so many questions and dont know where to start!
Does anyone have any recommendatins for doctors in the Jerez area, or know anyone who might!

thank you,

love

Is it congratulations then Maryann ? Our daughter went private here, had lots of very good care, but went back to UK for birth...bad move, said she should have stayed here! The Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella has an excellent reputation for pre and post natal care. They seem to do a lot more blood tests and scans here than they do in UK. Have been told they do not offer an epidural though. Do not know of Doctors etc., for your area, but there are English midwives here, charge about €50 per visit in this area, maybe there are some in your area, Good Luck

Hope you understand. That info is great, thanl you so much, now we know where to start.
