Mask time again?
I was just checking the news before going to get my Covid and gripe jabs later this morning and this appeared

Re: Mask time again?
Thank you. Not seen anything about it yet so it is great to be ahead of the game. In my health centre space is very limited so when we all go for the jabs we are funnelled through so in extremely close proximity. I am high risk for several reasons so very happy if people need to wear a mask in this sort of situation.

That to me reads that from October 17 they are going to bring in a traffic light system and the requirements required will vary by region and level of risk? So I'm sure if regions require masking we will be informed. I was at hospital yesterday in the Axarquia region and was checking the electronic update board they have which has information re vaccines and requirements etc. On the board it said those at high risk from Covid or flu should wear masks in the hospital and in the vicinity of the hospital. There was no mention of everyone needing masks at this time

Re: Mask time again?
I posted this thread with the intention of warning people to keep their eye on the situation and to maybe stock up on masks before /if a big panic sets in and the prices go crazy or there is no stock.
My health centre was telephoning people this morning to make appointments to get the jab. |

Re: Mask time again?
In my town they do the jabs in age groups, The information of when each group is to attend is sent on WhatsApp by the health centre and on Face Book by the town hall. So no individual messages or phone calls. Every place will have their own methods so it would be good to keep this thread current with any news from members.
The members who always join into this type of discussion to argue the toss about whether face masks are good or bad had better leave well alone as I will happily give you a holiday from BE if you do so. Rosemary |
Re: Mask time again?
I did mention this article to Carmen our health centre receptionist who grimaced (at the possibility of having to wear masks again) and uttered a 'Vamos a ver'
Yes, these initial sessions are for persons over 60, persons at risk and children 6 months - 5 years. I picked it up from the Valencian health app. Our town hall is now using WhatsApp 'Community' option as well as Facebook to communicate. |
Re: Mask time again?
We can book ours using the normal online app. They are allocating specific 5-minute appointments, so it shouldn't turn into the usual zoo! Last year it was very well organised. Some years ago, they had 100 all together and it was chaos! We are lucky in now having a nice small village health centre. The main one in the town is like a small hospital with 24 consulting rooms - chaos usually reigns Last year I had a pneumonia jab as well. The other jab that is now available is Shingles.

Re: Mask time again?
The health centre we are registered at in Velez is quite big, with 14 consulting rooms on the first floor and other rooms for specific purposes on the ground floor, but it's anything but chaotic. The vaccinations are done in a room which is just inside the rear door of the building, accessed via the car park, so people don't have to use the main entrance and walk right through the ground floor of the centre. We too book our appointments via the app or Clicsalud website, my husband had his at the beginning of this week and I am hoping to get an appointment for mine next week (we fall into different age bands).
The only time everyone was contacted individually by health service staff about Covid vaccination appointments was the very first round of jabs after the vaccine became available, after that the dates for the various age groups have just been publicised and we make our own appointments by the same means as we do our GP/nurse ones. |
Re: Mask time again?
Yes, ours was better organized this year. I guess their challenge is to get the right balance of people to use up the open bottles (vials?) of vaccine liquid.
We have a large percentage of old people in our village (only 1000 people, though), so I assume the phone approach is the best way to get them organized. Much less arm ache this year I am glad to say. (From the injections) |

Re: Mask time again?
Sorry, Lynn. I don't know the details. I had Shingles three years ago, so they said I didn't need it. My wife had it privately before it became available via Salud. It is expensive—nearly €200. I would advise people to have it at all costs. I had Shingles for a month, and it was the worst experience of my life!

Fred, everything I have read about the singles vaccine now being available in Andalucia says that this year it is available to people born in 1959, ie those just turning 65 (plus the high risk groups who were eligible before). Do you have any information about whether it will become available to those born earlier than 1959 (I am now 68) or are we going to continue to be outside the scope of the vaccination programme if they only do people just turning 65 in the future?
