Re: Míriam González
What deception. If it had won Clegg, she had been another Catalina de Aragón (Katherine of Aragon)

Re: Míriam González
I think "what a disappointment!" is the better translation, deception is a false friend! But I can't see how Clegg could have become Prime Minister. Maybe in the future...but highly unlikely.

Re: Míriam González
The thread title is incorrect - Nick Clegg's wife's name is Miriam Gonzalez Durantez.
This on the other hand is Miriam Gonzalez

Not exactly - she is a director of the company and has worked for them for 16 years.
Whether that job deserves 400k is debatable but I doubt that they would pay that unless they thought is was worth it to them.

Yeah that's why a few years ago I removed my 2nd last name from my social security card as Anglo-Saxon culture doesn't require you to use both names. I don't consider that sexist to remove the woman's name..

The second surname is only preserved for one more generation, ie Grandchildren, then the maternal ones are lost anyway.
I only use one surname, not only does it UK not require a second surname, it is almost impossible to keep it, as we have found out over the years.
