Default Looking for a long term rental around Ayamonte - but need internet!

Hi,

I posted this in the Ayamonte forum, but in hindsight I might do better in the general Spain forum, as I guess we are looking in the general area.

We are looking for a long term rental in the Ayamonte area.

Essentially from October 1st or thereabouts for say 6 months.

However, and this is the issue, we must have the internet as we have to work whilst there. So working of a club wi-fi is probably not an option.

Essentially we wish to find out if a) we can live abroad and b) if we like the area to purchase a property.

Does anyone have any suggestions or agents that we can try or any other tips to aid our search.

Thanks in advance.

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Thanks.

Search is a little frustrating.

We are widening our search area a fair bit (as far as Pago del Humo, Chiclana), as we really need some outside space for a BBQ and maybe even a pool.

So probably looking at a villa.

In the UK it would be fairly easy, but not so in Spain......

Are you going to have transport ? Some houses in Pago del Humo are a fair way from the road, shops etc Reliable internet in Pago might be a problem.

If you are here over winter you might find a pool very bracing unless heated. I never got in mine till April and it had a solar cover on it.

Esuri town houses have space for bbq and so did a lot of rentals I saw in Ayamonte.

Hi

Nowt wrong with Pago Except I live there (LOL) - I think there are eight busses a day - they stop around siesta for three hours. Nice campo area but of course - illegal until the next town plan is accepted - so prices WAY LOW.

Internet by Wimax - up to 10 Gb speed unlimited (fair) usage from choice of three suppliers

Rentals long term available so what are you waiting for?

Hello Isdoo, whereas Costa Esuri is a very colourful location, chances are the properties with internet access will be permanent residents; seems unlikely rental properties will have on site internet. Plus no shops, bars or any other facilities.

Have you tried sites like ownersdirect and holidaylettings. (simply put the obligatory www. before and .co.uk afterwards). You can search for internet specific properties.
Even though they mostly advertise for shorter holidays, if you find something you like the look of, you could contact them to ask if they will do long term rentals. It seems likely that most would be more than happy to secure a long term rental during the winter months.
Both sites mentioned are a good and reliable source. (no commercial interests).
Also recommend looking just inside Portugal; fabulous locations and more likely to find a villa closer to the town of Ayamonte, being on the boarder.
Try searching between Villa Real San Antonio and Tavira; Manta Rota is lovely, as is Altura; all with easy and toll free access on N125, to Ayamonte. Monte Gordo has is fairly lively during the winter months. All are served well with shops and facilities. And most Portuguese speak English.
You could try the local expat papers algarveresident and theportugalnews (type www. before and .com after). It may be worthwhile contacting a for sale property, they may also be interested in a long term winter rental.
Happy searching.

I beg to differ on Esuri no shops etc ? it has albeit only one, which has a thriving clientele, it also has a golf club, club house which does food. For August at least a limited bus service. Each urb appears to have a swimming pool of its own which are kept immaculately. I am not sure if any restrictions on use. There are clubs to join also for various interests.

I am not sure if Portuguese rentals would be any better for being connected to internet but there do seem to be villas to rent at reasonable prices. Also closer to Faro airport if that suited your need. Although under an hour to Faro airport from Ayamonte. It also has option of Sevilla airport, probably near 2 hours away.

Hi

On the subject of airports, from Pago,

Jerez = 35 mins,
Gibraltar = 75 mins
Seville = 2hrs
Malaga = 3 Hrs
Faro = 4 Hours

Depending on time of day and how fast you travel on motorways
