Looking For A Good Residential Caravan Park
Hi all,
My first post here, so please be gentle. My wife and I have decided we still have one more adventure left in us (Im 60) and we want a holiday/residental place in Spain. We don have enough to buy a property to the standard that we want without selling up here (UK), which we don't want to do.
We are looking into purchasing a second hand 2/3 birth static caravan on a residential caravan park within 1 hour of Alacanti Airport. We have a budget of about £20k.
We have a week in December to conduct a couple of site visits.
As we have never visited before, we would welcome any site recommendations that members have, and any other point that may be of use.
Thanks in advance,
Ray

OK , gentle it is
How about you hang on to your £20k and instead rent a nice flat for say £400 per month. It would take you about 4 years to use that up and as you are not footing it out all at once you can earn some interest. You can also move if you are not keen on the first place you stay. You will not lose money to solicitors and local taxes. Instead of the property owning you, you can call the shots without the headache. You never know you may have a change of heart and embark on a different adventure at a later date. Keep the options open!

Also be aware that some of the caravan parks MAY be illegal, if yours was one, you may well lose the caravan as well as the pitch. Many are OK, but there were several instances a few years ago of people going out shopping, coming back and finding the gates locked and secured with no means of even getting their clothes etc. They were eventually allowed in for an hour to take what the could, but their holiday home was gone.

Re: Looking For A Good Residential Caravan Park
The community charges are quite high in some of the parks as we looked into it but decided it is not financially a good idea.
We are flying over tomorrow to look at different areas for villas, apartments, bungalows etc., and have a budget of around 90,000 euros. If the Agent pesters us we will be not amused as we have been upfront and said we may possibly rent first so as to make sure we like the area. We are interested in Cabo Roig, Cuidad Quesada, Villamartin and all around the Torrevieca areas plus La Torre. Very excited but must remember not to get carried away!!!!

Forgive me if I am not gentle. You have disposable money available to you. Buying a static home will incur site charges as well as being an expensive adventure. You can rent 2 bedroom apartment in good locations for €550 per month off season. You're in your 60's why buy anything at this stage in your life?
I reckon renting is beneficial for you. Use Spain as a retirement adventure in the off season and you will have a ball, save a fortune and retire to the UK for the summer months. Dont discount the obvious, have the best of both worlds.
