Default Longer term holiday rentals in Spain

I am looking for advice and help from people 'on the ground' in Spain. I am now retired (thank you Lord!) and have spent the last 17 years overseas in the ME.

Just came back from a one week holiday with family in Cala de Mijas. Lovely place, nice and clean, not too commercialised.

We liked it so much that I am looking for options to travel and stay overseas (Europe) for extended breaks between one to two months. We liked the South of Spain and this is one area we would like to stay again.

Holiday rental prices are too high to consider for extended stays. I wondered if anybody has information for websites which offer lower price, perhaps last minute rentals of between one to two months on the coast of Spain. Ideally anything up to 2 bed and anything up to £700 a month.

Also any suggestions on areas (we like fairly low key, small places, but can also go with busier too). We don't need much to entertain us!

Thank you in advance

I suspect that you are on a hiding to nothing. 1-2 months would still be considered short term and in the summer season even small appartments go for 700 or more per week around the coast.

Friend of mine has a 1 bed appartment which he rents out. It's 20 - 30 minutes from the coast and he gets 300 per week in low season.

I hope you get lucky, but more likely you're going to have to rethink your budget

Sorry but it is impossible to find properties to rent for one or two months cheaply in the summer as that would still be considered short. What I would suggest you try is to find a reasonably priced Airbnb in La Cala and then ask in local bars and shops for accommodation.

Have to agree with above - huge demand for both long and short term rentals in all popular areas and so consequently prices are up above inflation. Prices in my area (Alicante) are around 1,000€ a week in the summer.

Blooming heck Expensive!! 400€ a month here where I live, however there is little demand, the tourism boom was not encouraged here.
