Long Term Rental Tips

Hello all! We are hoping to move to Spain late next year and keep our own home and residency in the UK. Plan to transfer income from pension/investments etc over to a Spanish account on a regular monthly basis for income, to pay rent and all other living costs. We plan to spend most of our time in Spain, with visits home as and when needed (a few weeks per year maximum). I am starting to read and digest info ...there is so much out there, but if anyone has any advice for us it would be greatly appreciated. In our own minds it seems quite a simple thing to do.....but after reading for a few days I am now not so sure!!! Many thanks :fingerscrossed:::confused:
BTW we are mid 50's :-)

If you plan to spend more than 183 days p.a. in Spain (not consecutive, in total) you will need to become fiscally resident, there also rules regarding Spanish residencia, the system of registering foreigners living in Spain.

It is a simple thing to do, just do your research from reliable sources.

Try starting here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-spain

Good luck.

If you are going to spend most of your time in Spain then you cannot keep your UK residency. You will be obliged to pay tax in Spain and the tax will be on your total income, not just what you bring into Spain.

As you are not in receipt of the UK state pension, you will also need to budget for private health insurance in Spain.

As you are now thinking - it's simple to do in theory, but it never works out as simple as it looks:(:(

Anyway, welcome to the forum, I am sure we will be able to make it a bit simpler for you both.!
