Default Londoner in Sevilla needs to learn Spanish

Hola.

I'm a 37 year old male writer. Just moved here from London to escape the daily grind. I don't speak ANY Spanish though which is handy.

Can anybody recommend a decent school or tutor with whom I can learn some lingo. Soon as possible because I can't communicate with anyone.

I have a few friends here but they are Spanish and it'd be nice to join in chat and know what they are saying when they're not pigeon talking English for my sake.

Also, any expat meet-ups or anything like that?

Hola, welcome to the forum. When I lived near Sevilla there were lots of places, ways to learn. Have you tried asking your spanish friends or around the student area ? I cannot recommend anyone or place but wish you well. Enjoy the lovely city, I do miss a wander around it.

ps Have you found the Irish Bar by the Catedral ? that could be another option, used to be a great meeting place. Also the American place up the side lane at the end of the same street.

Id say your in a good place, Its been a while since I went to Sevilla but it was / is my fav city in Europe and I did visit it a lot 6 years ago. Its good because your kind of forced to speak it or at least try.

Your similar age to me and I would be interested to see how you get on, I found a good break into it was Michael Thomas to listen too in the street, it gives a good basic command, how to say words and and also a little confidence, You can put it straight on your phone or MP3 player and start straight away.

I just gives you that touch of confidence to try and speak a language which I have not really found elsewhere as a first step.

There are plenty of language schools in Seville, just Google

You will need at least 2-3 months of intensive courses before you will be able to have much of a conversation with anyone
