Lloyds Bank - a heads up on Debit/Cashpoint cards
I had an email advising me there was electronic mail via the Lloyds online site - turned out to be an advice that as I had not used my card in a year (no UK trips no prizes for guessing why) they were not automatically sending me a new card (which I do need when in the UK)
There is an option to request a renewal - but be careful you don't 'lose' your card if like me you have not used it. |

Are you sure it's the card and not the actual account?
I have a Lloyds account with debit card and although I haven't used the card for a long time, well over a year, I do use the actual account and in fact still have a couple of small annuities paid into it each month. I've had no such notification from them. |

100% sure it's the card - the account is in regular use with pension payments etc.
'We've noticed you haven't used this card in the twelve months leading up to 8th September 2020, and it may be that you no longer want a card on this account. So that you don't have unwanted cards in your possession we won't send you a new card to replace your current one when it expires on 31st January 2021.'' My notifications come via internet - if yours are via post maybe it didn't arrive. |

Mine are Internet.
Also my card is not close to expiring so that may be the difference, perhaps I'll put it in my wallet and spend a few Euros on it! |

It has happened to me with Nationwide and Santander (i.e. not renewing card for non-use). All you need to do is to stick your card in an ATM in Spain and do a balance check, or try a withdrawal and then back out before the request is put through. Or if you have a PIN sentry, use your card to access online banking.
To get your new card, you have to call customer service and request if not possible online. |

I'd be wary of backing out of a cash withdrawal.
Bank systems will often flag such things up as suspicious activity and block a card. |
