Live in Spain...work in Gib?
Hi all, i am new to this, so hello! :)
My wife and i are seriously thinking about moving to Gib and settling there, however, we are undecided as to wether we live in Spain and commute to Gib, or live in Gib. What is putting us off the the high price in property in Gib, for what you get, and as we are not millionaires.....living in Spain may well become the answer. Just testing the water so to speak with those of you that currently live there. I myself was born in Gib....and want to come home! Look forward to some helpful advice Brian :) |

Hi Brian
My advice is always to live in Gib to start with, take a 6 month rental and then weigh up the pros and cons during that time before making a final decision. The high price of property has to be balanced against travelling time and costs especially if working. Plus the delays and abuse at the Spanish frontier. |

Lots of people do just that, however they do rely on the Spanish who control the crossings, and occasionally they have an off day and it takes hours to get through the border control, which is the major downside.
sure is different to when I was out there and it was closed! What parts of Spain are suitable to live?...consideration being given to commute times, lifestyle etc? |

Re: Live in Spain...work in Gib?
Many/most people who live in Spain/work in Gib live up the coast - as far as Estepona is quite feasible - further than that would be quite a long commute.
La Linea is within walking distance but is not to everyone's taste. Alternatives are inland villages - Jimena de la Frontera is very popular and many there commute to work in Gib, but others are within easy driving distance - San Roque, Los Barrios, Alcala de los Gazules and Tesorrillo spring to mind. There is not so much to the west along the coast, Algeciras is again not too popular. |

Thank you, plenty of areas for us to look at there, having checked the map. .we did think Estepona would be the limit
