Our Lidl has for many years sold back bacon, not sure of origin, probably Dutch or Danish.... not seen any since January, is it a Brexit Bacon disaster?

Re: Lidl Bacon AWOL!
I was thinking maybe it's a Brexit issue but probably not. Having said that went to a large British supermarket on Friday in Alicante and there was nothing but frozen white bread in all the freezers!!. All the Tesco and Waitrose products were gone. I asked what had happened and then said Brexit had changed everything and they were looking to some other provider.

Not sure what "typical Lidl's" is supposed to mean, like any efficient retailer they will stock items which sell and if something disappears it likely means that there was insufficient demand for it so it will be dropped and the shelf space used for something else. |

I was curious as to their origin, so checked the label and was surprised to see they were produced in Poland. |
Re: Lidl Bacon AWOL!
I can't imagine the masters of low overheads would ship Danish bacon to the UK then out to Spain. More likely they have bacon from British pork and bacon from Danish pork.
El Corte Ingles have 'proper' bacon. Maybe try Dealz as well. |
Re: Lidl Bacon AWOL!
It is more likely, bacon doesn’t sell well enough to warrant stocking it.

In 2015 the International Agency for Research on Cancer, an independent agency of the World Health Organisation (WHO), reported that processed meat was carcinogenic to humans.
Read the full spiel here.... https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/bacon-bad-you Are you sure you should be eating rashers/bacon, in the first place, owing to the above. Also loaded with fat... Just saying.... |
