Latest news on masks and distancing

Translated from Spanish newspaper

The government already knows when you can remove your mask (and you will not like it)
The next Council of Ministers will approve a decree law with basic measures for the ‘new normality’

Until there is a Coronavirus treatment or vaccine. This is the time that the obligation to wear a mask and maintain the safety distance for citizens of the entire national territory in Spain will last, as the Government has agreed in a package of basic rules of mandatory compliance that will be announced next week.
The Government thus intends to unify the basic measures in the fight against the Coronavirus within the framework of the commitment assumed this week with Citizens in exchange for their favorable vote in the extension of the state of alarm.
Citizens asked the government for a common legal framework for an orderly exit from the state of alarm, and thus avoid that some communities can eliminate prohibitions such as holding large events or wearing a mask on the street when the safety distance cannot be maintained.

Hola

Any sensible person will continue to "socially distance" until they feel "safe". I will not be travelling in an aircraft until at least two months after they restart flights. I also will avoid crowds and keep my socialising to a small circle of friends

Put off any international travel until next year . No hotels only individual apartment rental , there is lots to see and do in Spain all year round and without the usual flood of tourists even the coast is very pleasant, although the economy will suffer for a very long time

Having the ability to avoid aircraft or ferries is fine in most circumstances however some of us find ourselves stuck in totally different countries to our spouses. I doubt I will be only one in this position. There are also people desperate to be able to be in Spain in order to obtain residencia etc before 31 December. It isn't as simple as saying no tourists or holiday in the country you are in. Coming out of lockdown and dealing with what it throws up is a far more difficult task for all governments than the going into lockdown was.

I'd love to not have to go still for a while and I don't 'have to' but I will because I have a brother and a cousin both ill there with non-covid issues and a house that I need to check on because it's been empty since last Autumn when I had expected to be back to tend to it in the New Year. My preference is to fly but rather not yet, but would like to go, so I'll drive as soon as I can. That with luck will cut down on a lot of the risk areas to do with flying and airports.

This afternoon when I was on my way to the shops in my town, a man who wasn't wearing a mask came out of a building and deposited a huge 'gob' on the pavement very near me. I challenged his behaviour and got a stream of abuse to the effect that it was none of my business. It was so depressing to see such an attitude.

Absolutely disgusting. Having been to China several times one of the few things that I don't like about the place and the people is their acceptance of and the frequency of spitting in the street. Surely now with the Covid virus the WHO should be pushing for a worldwide ban on the disgusting practice. Another country where spitting is rife is India.

Just remember that he doesn't have to wear a mask.

As for the other behaviour, it's a cultural issue - many don't like the way we blow our noses - I hate it too but it's their culture

There are quite a few of us stuck in the wrong country. I am hoping to be back home towards the end of June Having been living out of a 10kg suitcase since March3rd.

The governments have to have rules to cover the bulk of situations.

Snikpoh, I must agree with Mustard & R.Scratcher about spitting. It is not a cultural trait, just plain filthy & backward thinking, can also spread disease. At least we see less of that other disgusting habit when,in the past, men would urinate against any convenient wall in the street. My Spanish relatives don't behave in either way so I think it is down to the standards of the individual whatever nationality.
