Re: Labour Party revival
You would think so, but the papers are still harping on about a "hung" parliament. I remember the last time that happened - Heath and his shambles of a government (it was the Barber boom that wrecked the UK economy in the 70s never let anyone kid you otherwise) lost the 1974 election, but hung around for ages trying to cut deals. I suspect Gordon "the bottler" will have to be dragged screaming from Number 10.

I don't know much about betting. Why would a bookie ever pay out before the result is known? What possible advantage would he gain from it?

Boost his reputation.
Its happened a time or two in the last few years,...not sure, but it could have on been the Premier league title before it was definitely decided.

Re: Labour Party revival
It has been on the news that Labour are appealing to voters to do some "tactical voting", ie voting for the Libdems to keep the Tories out.
It sounds like they have thrown in the towel.

Re: Labour Party revival
I wouldn't bet on the result, even at this late stage.
About the only thing that does seem sure, is that a certain Mr Brown will be leaving the building at some stage in the proceedings, because even if Labour did get most seats,no one would be prepared to work with him.

However, punters backing Nick Clegg and Gordon Brown may take comfort from Paddy Power's early pay-out on Arsenal to win the Premier League in 2003 - Manchester United pipped the Gunners at the post.

Re: Labour Party revival
Now the result could be all down to the weather.
Apparently the Socialists are reluctant to get off their backsides or even stick their noses out the door if its a rainy day.
Maggie had her big successes on rainy days.

So Arnold Schwarzenegger no less, has already phone Cameron to congratulate him,....based on exit pole results,....though its still pointing to a hung parliament.
Early days yet methinks.

Re: Labour Party revival
Hints are that Brown will refuse to stand down. They are legally allowed to stay where they are if there is a hung parliament but since the Conservatives already have 2 million more votes than Labour I can't see that helping the country or the financial uncertainty.

Re: Labour Party revival
That would Labour a better chance of forming some sort of pact.
Not sure why the Tories are so strongly against PR, given the way the votes are normally distributed.Maybe they will have second thoughts
