La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
Hi
Since last week I'm getting a request to enter documentation electronically when I log in to my La Caixa account each day. I think this is to do with money laundering. I've selected the passport option and have sent scanned copies of page 1 and 2of my passport. The system accepts this and I can then access my account but get the same request the next day. Can anyone throw any light on this and let me know if I'm doing the correct thing? Thanks Steve |
Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
That's odd. I just logged on without anything like that. Mine is a resident's account.

Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
My current passport expires mid August. Is it possible they want an updated copy for their records?

Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
Hi Steve
I have just logged into my La Caixa account & have had to supply the same info. I have also logged in again after re-booting my PC & it went straight to my account, so I will try it again tomorrow see what happens & let you know if I have to supply my passport again Best Chris |
Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
Erm, this sounds fishy.
According to OECD regulations, electronically-supplied identity documentation is not an acceptable form of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Know_your_customer for banks. It's much too easy to forge an alternate identity that way. I have always been required to personally deliver original identification document for copy at any bank. It's very odd they'd ask you to send it electronically, because legally, it's worth less than the bits used to carry it. I'd go to the bank and ask if I were you. Nothing to lose that way. |
Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
We have a residents account and have not been asked for this. However we have received a letter, emails and warnings at the cashpoint to say that we had to supply information on IVA and our renta to conforrm with autonomo and money laundering. I had to take everything to the office and was issued with a certificate to say that La Caixa had seen the documents according to whichever law it applied to. The lady at the desk said that they were reviewing all accounts and that it was a one off request this year to ensure that all their accounts were up to scrutiny.

Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
I'm not sure its the same thing, but the last couple of weeks we have got access to online banking with Santander. We can check our account, look at balances etc, but we cannot undertake transactions of any kind.
For this we need to set up an electronic 'signature' this can only be done by calling in at the bank branch in which our account is held. |
Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
We have had this today with Caixa and are going in to see them in the morning, have no wish to send personal details over the internet.

Thanks Steve I have just tried to log on & also had to supply my passport again, so it does seem to be a daily process ,how boring. I can only assume their IT people haven't set the programme up properly ( now there's a surprise ) The only additional info I had to supply was my passport are you having to supply any thing else ? Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
We walked into our local branch this morning all she wanted was the passport, all done and sorted, much easier than faffing with the internet

Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
I don't have a local branch in West Sussex and as my wife is ill at the moment and is having hospital treatment I can't get to Spain.

Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
Hi Chris
I got the same again this morning. I think I have an up to date email for the Ayamonte branch so will try them to see if it helps. Thanks Steve |
Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
I have just tried to logged on to my account and was able to access it OK without any request for additional documentation: which is a good job as I would have struggled to understand it as although the website started in English when it logged me in it changed to Portuguese. Spanish I could have managed but my command of Portuguese is more limited.

Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
I did email my local Spanish branch rep yesterday. I've not had a reply yet but am now able to go straight to my account without being requested to enter proof of ID so hopefully any problems with the system have been sorted.

Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
Logged in to Sabadell this morning. The following message was in my account inbox.
Due to legal requirements, we require a copy of your identity card or equivalent document in force. You can stop by our offices or send it by email to: ******************* Otherwise operations will be restricted as from 30 Sept.'14 Seems like there is a trend here. Steve |
Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
We have just been through this with La Caixa. We have a joint account and my wifes passport had just expired and so they wanted a copy of the new passport for their records. Suprisingly, they are on the ball. You must go to your local branch in person where they will take a copy.

Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
Just had a similar request from Barclays International. Not only do they want proof of ID, but address and evidence of economic activity, eg pay slips etc. Bloody cheek I call it. What right does a bank have to know all my business?

Re: La Caixa - Electronic documentation request
Logged in to La Caixa this morning and got another request for financial information. In English this time. Haven't a clue what they are asking for and when a clicked on the link it failed to find the form they want completed. Why do the banks and governments have to lump everyone in with the "real" criminals? All I process is the occasional credit top up for my direct debits. By the way, I know why they do it but it's irritating and must cost them a fortune to administer.

I did write near the beggining of this thread that we took our Passports to our local Caixa, all she asked was where our money came fom she then "ticked" the pensioner box.
