La Caixa bank

Can anyone tell me if they have any information about la caixa. they have closed the bank in the village where I hold my account. I am unable to fly out at the moment because of family commitments I have received a letter and with my poor Spanish i can make out data protection and reformation but it is far tooo complicated for me to understand fully.
Are they being taken over or just restructuring to save money any information would be appreciated:frown:.

our branch here is working as normal, no problem, maybe your village too small and not enough custom with the crisis, lot of cut backs. Cant say at the moment I am worried.

If you mean what has historically been known as La Caixa then you should know that it is the most solid of the Spanish savings banks (cajas de ahorro) and has recently been converted into a normal bank. La Caixa de Catalunya is the other one and is much smaller and is generally considered to be somewhat less "solid". In fact, the Spanish government has very recently been obliged to take a large stake in this caja as part of the process of converting it into a bank.

Hope this helps.

La Caixa here in Alora is just as it's always been, no problem as far as I'm aware.
There was an article in the papers earlier in the year saying that they would be closing a few of the very small unprofitable branches though.

Without seeing what you got in the post it's hard to say, but I suspect it's just like I received which is just the annual report and nothing to worry about.
